OUR MISSION

MISSION STATEMENT

We endeavor to lovingly demonstrate Christian faith to the socially, economically, and spiritually impoverished by providing for their basic physical needs and by encouraging personal spiritual growth. We seek to provide food, clothing, and (eventually) shelter to the poorest of the poor. We seek to reflect God’s love for us in the way we treat others, not only with words of encouragement, but through practical actions. In Matthew 25, Jesus welcomes into the kingdom of God those who fed the hungry and sheltered the homeless.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who are We?

We are a ministry comprised of men, women, and youth from the congregation who have volunteered to specifically serve the needs of the homeless.

Who are the “Homeless?”

Approximately 80,000 people are homeless each night in Los Angeles County. Homeless families and individuals can be found throughout the County with concentrations in particular areas. One such area, Metro Los Angeles, have the greatest number of homeless people. We have targeted this group.

What do we do?

We have an ongoing ministry working with the homeless population of Los Angeles. We provide meals and clothes for approximately 800 in total - men, women, and children, and information regarding the Church.
Following the meal, we spend time praying with those who would like to join us in our closing prayer.

Where?

Our focus has been on the downtown area because the people have been so accessible. We also serve those in the 1700 block of south hope street, which is located southwest of down town L.A.

When?

We go out the second and fourth Saturday of each month. We meet at the Normandie Church to prepare the meals before heading out to deliver the lunches in the downtown area.

We also schedule one-on -one time with some of the people with whom we have developed a relationship. This involves bringing them to Sunday service.

Why?

Matthew 5:16; Matthew 25; 1 John 3 16-18; James 1:26; Isaiah 58: 6-7; Luke 6:35

We seek to help the poor in Jesus’ name and for the glory of God
